Who
We Are
Doing
Business in Memphis was founded in 1990 with the purpose of
providing quality business-to-business information for people
in sales and marketing, as well as for non-profits and others
who need current and accurate data on Memphis companies.
Throughout
the years, thousands of companies and organizations have come
to depend upon us as the local industry leader for business information.
Our clients come from all over the country, from Hawaii to New
York, to Florida to Toronto.
The
principals of Doing Business in Memphis are Deborah L. Camp,
the founder and President, and Michael Correll, Vice-President of
Marketing and Technology Services.
Ms.
Camp has more than twenty-five years experience in corporate,
academic, and governmental environments. She has lived and worked
in three foreign countries. She started the company and began
publishing Doing Business in Memphis after discovering
there was no single source of in-depth business information for
the Memphis area.
She
holds a Master Degree in Urban Anthropology, and is a frequent
writer and speaker on the subjects of database marketing, entrepreuralism,
time management, starting a business, and other subjects. For
a year she hosted an hour-long weekly radio show called "The Small
Business Roundtable." She has written articles for Memphis Woman,
First Tennessee Bank's Business Review, Phoenix New Times, Memphis
Business Journal and Performance Magazine. She has served on numerous
boards and committees, and is particularly interested in child
advocacy and animal welfare.
Michael
Correll has an extensive background in sales, marketing, creative
design and media. He has previously worked for an Internet company
where he supervised and coordinated the activities of 40 other
editors around the country. He's also worked in Public Television
and Radio where he served as studio manager and wrote, researched
and produced public affairs programming.
Mr.
Correll speaks on effective sales prospecting and database marketing.
For over a year he conducted a monthly forum on Internet usage
for the Memphis PC Users Group, for which he also served as a
Board Member.
He
has also done independent consulting and radio production in some
of his areas of interest, including a radio series with the late,
nationally recognized wine expert and restaurateur, John Grisanti.
Like Ms. Camp, he shares an interest in animal welfare, as well
as jazz, the theatre and visual arts.
Doing
Business in Memphis is also a long-time member of the Memphis
Area Chamber of Commerce, as well as members of Sales and Marketing
Executives of Memphis, and the Tennessee Library Association.
